New Required Training Courses for FI Group

The Canada School of Public Service and the Office of the Comptroller General (OCG) have worked jointly on the development of a core curriculum for financial management professionals in the FI occupational group.

Public service employees currently in the financial management group who are part of the core public administration as defined in the Financial Administration Act and who also have less than five years of experience in that occupational group as of September 1, 2010, are required to take all three courses within three years of that date. For new hires in a financial management position, the three-year timeframe for course completion will commence on the day they join the Public Service.

Financial professionals in the Public Service affected by this requirement must take three courses in the following order:

  1. Financial Management Control Frameworks (F111) (three days)
  2. Government Planning, Budgeting, Reporting and Evaluation Cycle (F112) (two days)
  3. Financial Management Systems (F113) (two days)
