2010 Manion Lecture

Complexity, Crisis and Change - Implications for the Federal Public Service

The Manion Lecture is the Canada School of Public Service's marquee speaking event of the year, attracting a major audience from within and outside of government. It addresses pressing public policy and public management issues pertaining to the roles and responsibilities of public servants in a way that challenges orthodoxies, speaks to the future, and broadens the horizons of federal public servants and Canadian academics.

The 2010 Manion Lecture took place on May 5, 2010 in Ottawa. Guest speaker, Dr. Thomas Homer-Dixon, addressed how responses to worsening socio-ecological stresses have led to greater complexity, short-term management and psychological and social denial.

Guest Speaker:

Dr. Thomas Homer-Dixon
Award-winning author and academic, Centre for International Governance Innovation Chair of Global Systems at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, and Professor in Environment and Business in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo.
