Description
Duty of care is a legal concept central to understanding liability in public health and safety. This course introduces best practices for regulators and provides tools to minimize the risk of liability on the job and reduce any personal concerns to this effect. Participants will understand how potential negligence issues pertain to their role as a regulator. [R002]
Topics include:
- what regulators can do on a day-to-day basis to fulfill their duty of care
- consequences of a regulator acting beyond the limits of their authority
- determining negligence
- legal consequences of regulatory-related incidents
- what a regulator should do if they are sued
