Accessibility Feature Statement

In order to make this Web site more accessible, the Canada School of Public Service has created Web page templates which:

• are XHTML 1.0 Strict conformant, to improve compatibility with adaptive technologies, handheld devices, browsers and search engines;
• have been successfully tested on a wide range of adaptive technologies and browser/platform combinations to ensure that Canadians can access Web pages regardless of the technology used;
• include major components, such as the common menu bar, side menu, and content area that are properly marked up with headings to simplify navigation with a screen reader;
• employ table-less layout and design to simplify screen reader navigation by reducing the structural complexity of Web pages;
• use scalable fonts and text-based navigational elements to improve accessibility and simplify navigation using adaptive technologies;
• provide printer-friendly functionality in the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to render pages more compatible with printers and to prevent printing unnecessary page elements and;
• feature a "text only" linear layout option. This can be activated by pressing "Alt+4, Enter" on your keyboard or by clicking on the "Text only" link along the bottom of each page.

Increasing Text Size

To increase or decrease the text size on the School's Web pages, you can select one of the following text size options: Small, Medium, Large, or eXtra Large. These text size options are indicated by Text Size respectively S, M, L, XL and are located on the top right of the content section for each Web page.

Alternatively, you can change the settings in your Web browser. Just follow the instructions below based on the browser you are using or see your browser's help for details.

Internet Explorer

1. Select "View" in the menu bar.
2. Select "Text Size".
3. Select "Larger" or "Largest".

Mozilla Firefox

1. Select "View" in the menu bar.
2. Select "Zoom".
3. Select "Zoom In".
4. To increase the text size further, continue selecting "Zoom In".

Opera

1. Select "View" in the menu bar.
2. Select "Zoom".
3. From the menu, select the size with which you would like to view the Web site.
4. To increase the text size further, increase the percentage.
