Social media training now offered
Social media tools have a great potential to transform the way public servants work and serve Canadians. In a world where social media can swiftly propel an issue into the spotlight, public servants' lead time to provide advice and make decisions is shorter than ever. The School's new social media learning products are adapted to the realities of the public service and can help you to be innovative using social media tools.
The Social Media Implementation Strategy in the Government of Canada workshop features presentations by federal public servants who have successfully implemented social media in their own organizations. Discover the best tools to use and why, when to use social media and the risks associated with their implementation.
Social Media in the Government of Canada (B334) will provide you with the information you need to use tools such as GCPEDIA, YouTube and Twitter in your workplace.
Other learning activities will be added in early 2013. More details will be available shortly.
Do you need tools and strategies for your job search?
As a result of work force adjustment, the public service is changing and must adapt to new realities. For some, this means having to change careers or find a new job. To support you, the School has designed some practical learning solutions that are both affordable and accessible: three half-day courses to maximize your chances of success.
Writing an Effective Curriculum Vitae (B188) examines the essential information needed to draft a CV and cover letter for staffing processes in the public service.
Preparing for Exams and Interviews (B189) gives an overview of the evaluation process and explores strategies and tools that can help before, during and after exams and interviews.
Finally, with Creating Opportunities Through Networking (B192), participants will learn how to build and maintain their personal network and discover how networking can be beneficial for job searches.
New executive development products
In the current government context, senior managers must deal with greater expectations and demands than ever before. Since resources are increasingly scarce, the pressure is mounting to build a stronger and more efficient public service.
As an executive, you can count on the School's support during this major period of transformation. We have developed three specialized leadership and management programs that will enable you to renew your skills, reshape your environment and reinvent your operations.
The Management Suite for New EX-01s is designed to support new executives in their transition. The suite is comprised of a core course, Transition to the Executive Role (G701), and complementary courses on fundamental management topics. The complementary course Financial Management Essentials for the New Executive (G702) is now available.
The School has also revamped Living Leadership: The Executive Excellence Program, for executives who have been in an EX-01 position for more than two years. It is still based on the notion that experience is the best way to learn and hone one's skills, but the program is now shorter. Next cohort: January 15, 2013.
ConnEXion is a brand new leadership training program for senior managers at the EX-02 and EX-03 levels, or equivalent. It features a modular approach which enables participants to create a customized program to meet their leadership needs and the specific requirements of their position. First cohort: February 2013.
