Large Ph.D./research oriented Political Science programme on Canada's West Coast

Currently involved in major research effort with GenomeBC related to genomics research, GMOs, public opinion, regulation of genomics applications, marker-assisted selection and other technologies and their application in various natural resource and agricultural fields, including forestry, wine, fisheries, mining and energy.
Regulatory experience related to the assessment of new technologies, especially in the Environmental, Resource and Agricultural fields. Sponsoring Departments could be Environment Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Foods Canada, and Natural Resources Canada.
1-2 years.
To assist SFU, GenomeBC, UBC and other researchers in the social and natural sciences in completing research projects related to adoption and application of genomics techniques in various industrial and consumer goods sectors.
Public Servant-in-Residence would also be encouraged to lecture to public policy-oriented classes at undergraduate and graduate levels, either as occasional class visitor or by offering their own course[s]. We envisage integrating this resident into a variety of policy-related research projects in which our faculty are major participants.
Participation in leading edge socio- and scientific-technical research with significant future and immediate regulatory and other policy-related implications.
Experience with classroom teaching, in seminar-style courses that can draw extensively on the Resident's federal government experience. Experience providing valuable mentoring to graduate students and junior faculty with public policy research interests.
