The Public Service Employment Act (PSEA) is designed to facilitate recruitment to the public service while respecting fairness, transparency, accessibility and representativeness. Part 2 of this two-part course provides staffing specialists with an opportunity to further develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide sound advice on human resources issues related to staffing. Participants will learn how to advise managers on the establishment of merit criteria, the selection of assessment methods and tools, and the evaluation of candidates.

  • reviewing the principles of merit-based assessment

  • choosing the appropriate assessment method
  • developing assessment tools
  • managing the assessment process

Prerequisites:

Staffing for Staffing Specialists - Part 1 (P801) is a prerequisite for this course.
