Public Service Commission Information Sessions

Public Service Commission Information Sessions

The Public Service Commission of Canada (PSC) focuses on effective and efficient staffing solutions in partnership with hiring managers and the human resources (HR) community. These solutions, which include student and graduate programs and public service–wide pools, facilitate organizational recruitment and hiring activities.

These information sessions, presented in collaboration with (PSC), provide hiring managers and HR professionals with an overview of the staffing solutions available and how they can support HR planning and complement existing organizational staffing activities.

This English session is offered at no cost to all federal public servants.

Each event will include four sessions:

Public Service Commission Staffing Solutions

Hiring managers and human resources personnel are invited to learn about the various staffing solutions available from the PSC. This is the perfect opportunity to gain insight into the unique challenges of staffing in the federal public service.

Using the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) Effectively

This session provides an overview of FSWEP and how student employment can form part of an organization's HR planning strategy, as well as a demonstration of how to effectively complete an FSWEP request for referral.

Speed Up Your Hiring: Use the Post-Secondary Recruitment (PSR) Inventories

Partially assessed candidates are accessible at no cost through the Post-Secondary Graduate Recruitment Program. This session will explain how to manage the number of referred candidates from PSR inventories and how to select the most appropriate criteria and the right test scores to meet organizational hiring needs. It will also provide examples of how federal organizations have benefited from using this staffing tool.

Public Service–Wide Staffing Pools

The staffing pools maintained nationwide by the PSC are important resources that organizations can benefit from. This session explores the advantages of these assessed pools of qualified candidates, how they are created and which ones are available locally.
