Leading at Home and Abroad

Join the Federal Youth Network (FYN) and the Defence Youth Network (DYN) to hear from Major-General Denis Thompson, who is retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces after a distinguished 39-year career.

Major-General Thompson will share his views and experience in an engaging discussion on leadership and conflict resolution in a multinational and multicultural context, both within the public service in Canada and abroad.

For the past three years, he led the 1,600-strong Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in the Sinai, overseeing the 1979 Egyptian-Israeli Treaty of Peace. Prior to this, he was Commander of the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM) and Commander of Task Force Kandahar. His operational deployments also include command appointments in Cyprus, Germany and Bosnia (twice).
