Open discussions between managers and their teams are an important element of managing performance while enhancing workplace well-being. This workshop provides an opportunity to develop the skills necessary to navigate difficult performance conversations with empathy and assertiveness, and influence the attainment of common and practical management goals. Participants learn practical techniques for creating a safe and open environment for the discussion of difficult topics in the workplace. This workshop is recommended for managers seeking to learn how to have constructive performance conversations using practical exercises, role-play, and feedback. It will teach them how to make these conversations less stressful and more productive while ensuring that they treat their employees fairly and with respect.

Topics include:

  • creating a safe environment for discussions about performance
  • delivering difficult messages clearly and effectively
  • practical tips and advice on how to prepare for and manage constructive performance conversations
  • developing the feedback, empathy, assertiveness, and listening skills required to engage employees in the process of managing performance
