Why is the current virtual Supervisor Development Program: Virtual Edition (SDPv) being discontinued?
The Supervisor Development Program (SDP) was originally developed in 2016 and updated in 2020 as the Supervisor Development Program: Virtual Edition (SDPv) in response to the pandemic. Earlier in the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the SDPv was evaluated for continued quality and relevance, including a survey of other government departments. Content gaps and significant areas for improvements were identified. Given these factors, a decision was made to sunset (discontinue) the SDPv.
While SDPv is being discontinued, a new Leadership Learning Path has been launched, which better reflects evolving workplace and Public Service realities, addresses content gaps, and provides learners with more practical tools. The option to earn a Certificate of Completion of the Leadership Learning Path offers an attractive alternative for learners at all levels, including new supervisors.
When will the current Supervisor Development Program: Virtual Edition (SDPv) be archived?
As of March 31, 2025, learners will no longer have access to the archived Supervisor Development Program: Virtual Edition (SDPv) content or any materials related to this archived program. Please note that certain self-paced online courses currently part of the SDPv will continue to be available in the CSPS Learning catalogue: Values and Ethics Foundations for Managers (FON302) and Leading Diversity (INC110).
How will the discontinuation impact certifications already earned in the Supervisor Development Program: Virtual Edition (SDPv)?
Certification obtained before the archival of the Supervisor Development Program: Virtual Edition (SDPv) will not be impacted in any way and will remain valid.
