The School's faculty members are dedicated to the professional development of Canadian public servants. They aim to ensure that federal employees across Canada have the skills, knowledge and tools they need to provide excellence in service to the Canadian public.
To become a faculty member, you must be an active public servant who is an expert in your field, have the necessary competencies, knowledge and aptitude to teach others, and have a passion for lifelong learning.

Details
The Canada School of Public Service is actively looking for Government of Canada employees who are subject matter experts and who can teach in person or in a virtual environment a course on how to identify and address the impacts of systemic racism in the workplace and how to create meaningful change in the federal public service.
We are looking for employees who have:
- experience facilitating interactive events and learning activities that foster curiosity, self-growth and awareness in a safe environment
- a sympathetic understanding, through lived experience, of the implications of exclusion, systemic discrimination or racial discrimination
- a solid grasp of how multiple identity factors, and their intersection, shape the lived experiences of marginalized individuals and groups
- knowledge of the impact of past trauma on the stress response, and the potential role this might have on participants’ learning experiences and mental health
- a passion for bringing about meaningful change through inclusion
- a solid understanding of the concepts of sex, gender, diversity and inclusion
- an active allyship not relating to work, including a membership in anti-racism awareness, action groups or academic accomplishments in areas such as anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion

A collaboration agreement between your department and the Canada School of Public Service is required. Please first discuss your interest in facilitating this course with your manager to obtain their approval before you apply.
A selection process will be conducted, and successful candidates will be invited to participate in a training session. This training session is designed and required for all new visiting faculty members.

The Canada School of Public Service invites Government of Canada employees to consider teaching its coaching curriculum for non-executives: Introduction to Peer Coaching and Coaching for Effective Leadership. These virtual courses may also be taught in the classroom.
We are looking for coaches who:
- are passionate about exploring the foundation, principles and practices of coaching
- have adopted a coaching approach that empowers leaders at all levels to inspire others and lead more effectively within their organization
- have an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certification or coach training from an ICF-accredited training institution
- are willing to present to groups of 15 to 25 people

The Canada School of Public Service is actively looking for Government of Canada employees who are subject matter experts in materiel management who could facilitate a virtual course that may also be taught in the classroom, as a visiting faculty member.
Note that facilitating a course of this nature aligns with the Treasury Board Secretariat's (TBS's) recommended mentoring of junior members by senior members of the Materiel Management community as it pertains to TBS's new Professional Development Framework for Materiel Management functional specialists that is currently under development.
We are seeking materiel management community members who can perform a combination of any of the following tasks:
- assessing materiel needs in relation to program administration and operational requirements
- providing advice to clients on policies and legislation related to materiel requirements
- evaluating methods of meeting materiel requirements
- evaluating total cost of ownership
- receiving and inspecting goods
- ensuring quality assurance and testing
- allocating and scheduling use of materiel
- maintaining records to track inventory, reviewing consumption and monitoring costs
- determining stock/inventory replenishment requirements
- maintaining equipment
- safeguarding materiel
- identifying opportunities for reallocation or divestment
- divesting of surplus materiel
- divesting/replacing of materiel that is no longer cost effective to operate
- providing advice/mentoring lower ranks

Types of faculty members
Visiting faculty members continue to work for their home organization. Their employment tenure does not change. This process does not affect their employee status in any way. They:
- commit to teaching one or more courses at the School for a specific number of days per fiscal year (average of 20 days)
- teach on a voluntary basis, through a collaboration agreement between the School and the instructor's home organization
There is no monetary exchange between the two organizations. The agreement is renewable each year, in December.
Associate faculty members are employees of the Canada School of Public Service. They:
- commit to teaching one or more courses for a specific number of days per fiscal year (average of 20 days)
- teach on a voluntary basis, through a collaboration agreement

Recruitment process

Step 1: The Faculty Recruitment team receives your CV.

Step 2: The Faculty Recruitment team sends you a competency profile form to complete. The Faculty Recruitment team contacts individuals based on the recruitment needs in various fields of expertise.

Step 3: Your CV and competency profile are shared with the School's relevant business line authority, who confirms your expertise and experience.

Step 4: You may be invited to an interview and a simulation exercise.

Step 5: If you are preselected by the business line authority, you will be asked to complete a collaboration agreement and to participate in the training and evaluation for new facilitators joining the School.

Step 6: Once you have successfully completed the training, you will be asked to observe a seasoned faculty member delivering the courses you will facilitate prior to facilitating on your own.

- Minimum 5 years' experience in the federal government may be required, but some exceptions may apply due to the facilitator profile that is sought for various courses.

- You will have an opportunity for self-identification, for example as an Indigenous person, a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, a racialized person, or a person with a disability. This information will be used for the sole purpose of assessing instructor fit and assigning courses to instructors who best meet the course design and learning objectives within a field of expertise, for example because they have lived experience.
